Vibhitaki is also known as Bibhitaki and its botanical name is Terminalia Bellirica. It is one of the major Ayurvedic healthy fruits referred to as triphala apart from Haritaki (Terminal Chebula) and Amla (Emblica Officinalis).
Vibhitaki is equipped with many medicinal properties used in treating many diseases. It grows in every region of India to a height of about 60 – 80 feet with large leaves which are about 15 cm long. It has white or pale yellow colour flowers.
Ayurveda Medicinal Properties of Haritaki – Terminalia Chebula
Haritaki has a botanical name “Terminalia Chebula” and also referred to as Pathya. It is the fruit grown on a transient tree to the height of 30m. It has dull yellow or white colour flowers. The fruit has five longitudinal ridges to a length of about 2 – 4 centimeters.
The medicinal properties of this fruit have been applauded by Ayurveda Acharyas with the creation of different names. However, it is popularly known as Haritaki due to its effectiveness in defeating numerous diseases. The fruit is a remedy to many diseases with its proven results over the times.
Ayurveda Medicinal Properties of Amla or Indian Gooseberry
Amla which is also referred to as Amalaki is popularly recognized as Indian gooseberry. Being a transient tree, Amla grows to about 5 meters height. The back of Amla is usually characterized by light brown colour. Its leaves are closely patterned with beautiful shape, sized 3mm wide and 10mm long to give a feathery image.
Another feature of Amla is its pale green flowers which are usually clustered together in 6 to 10 to bring out pleasant looks. The fruits of Amla which weigh about 6 to 8 gms are depressed at poles, fleshy and characterized by globe shape.
