Introduction

Neem which has its botanical name as Azadirachta indica is a famous tree which is equipped with numerous medicinal properties, beneficial to treat many diseases and serves as ingredients in many home remedy. It is usually grown in the Indian subcontinent and now in some parts of the Middle East. It belongs to a mahogany family named Meliaceae.

The trees of neem grow faster and spread leaves broadly to bring out white and fragrant flowers and small drupe fruits which are characterized by bittersweet pulp. Neem leaves are the most important parts of the neem tree, and they are widely used in many subcontinent industries for many medicinal products such as oil, herb, pest repellent, and much more. Due to its many medicinal properties and benefits, Ayurvedic acharyas have named neem with different names such as Nimba (health booster), Pichumarda (destroys skin diseases), and Arishta (body evil power fighter). Introduction

Grape vines are in the category of fruit berries that are found clustered together in 50 to 300. In Ayurveda, it is known as Draksha with its scientific name “Vitis Vinifera” and widely grown in many parts of the world such as Western India, Turkey, Portugal, Kashmir, Morocco, and Central Europe.

The trees of grape have long, and deciduous woody stems deepened to the ground. The tree has the tendency to live longer to reach up to 35m if properly managed. It is characterized by long and palmate green leaves, about 5 to 7 lobed arranged in an alternate pattern on the woody stem. The fruit is almost globular with 6mm in diameter housing the seeds and turned dark purple when it ripens.

Ayurveda Medicinal Properties of Vidarikanda or Pueraria tuberosa

Vidarikanda (as it is referred to in Sanskrit) or Puerariatuberosa is also known as Indian Kudzu and is a perennial woody climber belonging to Fabaceae family.

It is characterized by robust tuberous roots with the full height of 5 to 6 meter when maturely grown up. It has white flowers with a shadow of pink.

Puerariatuberosa is commonly grown in India, Pakistan, and Nepal. It consists of many medicinal properties that are useful in the Ayurveda medicinal system. Most importantly are the Puerariatuberosa’s roots, which are used for many medicinal benefits. The roots of Vidarikanda are equipped with sterols, amino acids, sugars, and steroids. The plant has been researched to contain antimicrobial properties.

Mucunapruriens which is also known as kapikacchu is usually grown in India, Caribbean, and Africa. The legume is an annual and climbing shrub which has a height of about 13m to 15m, grown in the listed region. The younger mucunapruriens are characterized with hair as against the older ones which do not have hair and with tripinnate leaves.

It possesses purple, lavender, and white flowers with leguminous fruits. The seed pods of kapikacchu are 10 cm long, and they are enclosed in a hairy husk, seven seeds enclosed together in the pod. The covers are loose with orange hairs that have severe effect on skin by causing itching if the two come in contact. However, the itching chemical compounds are very useful as they contain serotonin, mucunain, and protein which are essential for its power as a shrub.
